Still Telling keeps the stories, voices and photos of the people you love. This page explains, in plain words, what we collect, what we never do with it, and the choices you have.
Our promises
- Your stories belong to the storyteller, not to us.
- We never sell your information or share it for advertising.
- We never use your stories, recordings or photos to train AI.
- We never make up memories or imitate anyone's voice.
- You can download everything, and ask us to delete it, at any time.
1. Who we are
Still Telling (stilltelling.com) is made by NaputiLabs, based in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean NaputiLabs. Questions: support@stilltelling.com.
2. Right now: the free preview keeps everything on your device
Today, Still Telling runs as a free preview. Everything you add stays in the browser on the phone or computer you're using. That includes answers, recordings, photos, the names of people in your circle, any email or phone number you type in, "Open when" messages and letters. None of it is sent to us, and we can't see it.
- It's saved in your browser's own storage (local storage and IndexedDB).
- Clearing your browser's site data, using a private window, or some browsers' automatic cleanup can erase it. Use Keepsake → save a copy to download a copy you control.
- A book made in one browser doesn't appear in another browser or on another device.
- When you scan a QR code from a preview book, the recording plays only on the device that made it. The sample book's recordings play anywhere.
3. When accounts open: what we'll collect
Paid plans and accounts are coming. When you create an account, we'll store your book securely so it works on every device and is backed up. We'll update this policy, and tell you, before that starts. We'll collect:
- Account details: name, email address and, if you choose text reminders, phone number.
- The book: answers, voice recordings, photos, captions, "Open when" messages, letters for later, and settings for who receives what and when.
- People you add: names, relationships, and the email or phone you give us so we can invite them or deliver what the storyteller chose. Please add only people you know and who'd welcome it.
- Gifts and purchases: the buyer's name and email, the gift note, and the start date. Stripe handles card details; we never see or store your full card number.
- Printed books (Heirloom): the book you approve for printing and the shipping names and addresses you give us.
4. What we collect from everyone, preview included
- Basic technical logs: our hosting provider, Cloudflare, keeps standard request logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and reliability.
- Fonts: pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser details when it sends them.
- No trackers: we don't use advertising cookies, analytics trackers or social-media pixels.
5. How we use information
- To run Still Telling: save the book, play recordings, deliver stories, messages and letters to the people the storyteller chose, at the time they chose.
- To send the reminders you asked for, at the pace you set, and nothing more.
- To turn recordings into text (transcripts) you can correct. If we use an outside transcription service, it may only process your recordings to make the transcript and may not keep them or train on them.
- To print and ship Heirloom books you approve.
- To process payments, prevent fraud, answer support requests, and keep Still Telling secure.
We don't read your stories except when you ask us to help (for example, a support request) or when the law requires it.
6. Who we share it with
Only the people the storyteller chooses, and the providers who help us run Still Telling. Each may use your information only to provide its service to us:
- Cloudflare: hosting, storage, databases and email forwarding.
- Stripe: payments.
- Email and text providers: to deliver reminders, invitations and messages (named here once chosen).
- Lulu (or another print partner): to print and ship Heirloom books.
- Google Fonts: typefaces.
We may share information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a business transfer. If Still Telling is ever sold or merged, these promises go with it.
7. Who can see a story
- Nothing is shared until the storyteller decides. Each story, message and letter has its own audience: just them, chosen people, or the whole circle.
- Items held "until after I'm gone" are released only after two trusted people confirm, a waiting period passes, and the storyteller is checked on first. See the Terms.
- QR codes: each recording has its own unguessable link. Anyone holding the printed book (or a copy of the code) can play that one recording, and nothing else in the book. Codes appear only beside stories that are already shared, and the storyteller can turn a code off.
8. Voices, faces and other people
Stories often include other people. Please record someone only with their permission, and use photos you have the right to share. If someone asks us to remove a recording or photo of them, we'll work with the storyteller to handle it fairly.
9. Sensitive information
Stories can touch on health, faith, family and hard times. That's welcome, and it's shared only as the storyteller chooses. Still Telling isn't a place for passwords, bank or card numbers, Social Security numbers or legal instructions. Please don't store them here.
10. How long we keep it
- Keeper and Heirloom include 10 years of hosting from purchase. After that, or if a plan lapses, the book stays viewable and downloadable; only new recording pauses.
- When a storyteller passes, the book can become a read-only memorial for the people they chose.
- If you ask us to delete a book or account, we delete it within 30 days, and it leaves our backups within 35 more days.
- If we ever shut Still Telling down, we'll give at least 90 days' notice and a full download first.
11. Your choices and rights
- Download everything, anytime, free.
- See, correct or delete information about you by emailing support@stilltelling.com. We reply within 30 days, usually much sooner.
- Stop reminders or invitations from any message, or change your pace in the app.
- Depending on where you live (for example, California or the EU), you may have extra rights, such as knowing what we hold or appealing a decision. We honor them for everyone. We don't sell or "share" personal information for targeted advertising.
12. Security
Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). When accounts open, books will be encrypted at rest, private to each family, checked by automated tests that one book can never be read by another, and backed up nightly. No system is perfect; if a breach ever affects your information, we'll tell you promptly.
13. Children
Still Telling isn't meant for children under 13 to use on their own, and we don't knowingly collect their information. Parents and family can tell stories about children and keep messages for them; those stay under the adult storyteller's control.
14. Changes
We'll update the date at the top when this policy changes, and tell account holders by email before any change that affects how their stories are used.
